Early Elementary Mathematical Literacy Assessment (EEMLA)

The Early Elementary Mathematical Literacy Assessment (EEMLA) will be administered May 29-30, 2012. It takes place within the first hour and a half each morning. It will consist of selected response questions only. The assessment will be machine scored.

The Early Elementary Mathematical Literacy Assessment is administered each year. This provincial assessment is designed to gather valid, reliable, fair and accurate information about the achievement of individual students to inform classroom instruction.

The Early Elementary Mathematical Literacy Assessment is administered to students of grade three English and French Immersion programs. There is also a separate French First Language(CSAP) version administered.

To provide feedback that will further inform classroom instruction, the assessment is developed by elementary teachers representing all school boards in Nova Scotia. Individual student reports are sent to schools, and later a report is distributed to parents/guardians.

Individual student results are used to guide instruction and to make decisions about what would be most effective in further supporting each student's development in mathematics.
