Nova Scotia Assessment - Read-aloud (NSA-RA)

Please note: The Nova Scotia Assessment: Read-aloud (NSA-RA) Platform is only available for Grade 3 provincial assessments and Mathematics 10/Mathématiques 10 provincial examinations. The NSA-RA provides an audio recording of assessments and examinations to a student who has a read-aloud adaptation documented in TIENET.

Please refer to the NSA Handbook or NSE Information Guide for NSA-RA Registration Instructions, NSA-RA Access Dates, and Student Access Instructions:  

March 1-May 1
  • Literacy and Mathematics in Grade 3 (LM3-EN)
  • Mathématiques in Grade 3 (M3-IM)
March 1-May 1
  • Nova Scotia Examination: Mathematics 10 – June
  • Examens de la Nouvelle-Écosse : Mathématiques 10 – Juin

English 10

The Nova Scotia Read-aloud (NSA-RA) platform will not be available. Students who meet eligibility criteria have two read-aloud options:

  • Assistive Technology: Read-aloud audio files are available via USB stick – no registration is required, and each school will automatically receive two USB sticks (one for each day of the examination). Schools are responsible for coordinating student access and ensuring appropriate supervision during the examination.
  • Human Reader: The reader should be an educator from the school or the school region. No registration is required.

Grade 6 and Grade 8 provincial assessments

The Nova Scotia Read-aloud (NSA-RA) platform will not be available. Students who meet eligibility criteria will have three read-aloud options:

  • Read-Aloud: Built-in Listen Tool in the online assessment platform
  • Read-Aloud: Human Reader
  • Read-Aloud: Student's Assistive Technology
Registration for the built-in tool will occur directly within the online assessment platform beginning on the following dates:
  • Grade 8: April 15
  • Grade 6: TBD
