Evaluation Services is accountable for the Program of Learning Assessment for Nova Scotia (PLANS), which includes provincial, national, and international assessments.

Provincial assessments are conducted in elementary, junior, and senior high schools (in senior high these are the Nova Scotia Examinations, or NSE).

The division develops, administers, scores, and reports on PLANS assessments in French and in English.
