Nova Scotia participates in national and international student assessments to see how our education system compares across Canada and around the world. These studies provide valuable data and insights into student performance and the factors that shape learning.
Pan-Canadian Assessment Program (PCAP)
- Conducted every four years with Grade 8 students in English, French Immersion, and French first language programs
- Assesses reading, mathematics, and science (one subject is the main focus each cycle)
- Recent and upcoming focus areas:
- 2027 - Reading
- 2023 - Science
- 2019 - Mathematics
- Provides context through student, teacher, and school questionnaires
