Programme for International Student Assessment (15-year-old students)

The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) is an international assessment of the skills and knowledge of 15 year olds that is now administered every four years, previously every three years. Directed by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and development (OECD), PISA involves over 80 countries or economies. PISA covers three domains: reading, mathematics, and science. Although each assessment has questions from all three domains, the focus shifts with each administration. Historical results can be found on the websites for CMEC and OECD.

PISA 2025 was administered in over 50 schools in Nova Scotia. The major domain for 2025 was science and results are anticipated in September 2026.

The next administration of PISA is scheduled for 2029 and the major domain assessed will be reading.
